CBD Holds Promise

If the proliferation of products is any indication, people from all walks of life are discovering the benefits of cannabidiol, or CBD, an oil derived from the hemp plant. Once conjoined to its cousin plant marijuana, hemp was, for all intents and purposes, de-criminalized by the most recent federal farm bill. Products containing CBD oil, contain no hallucinogenic properties and have rocketed onto store shelves as a result.

Jason Martin, CEO of Little Rock-based Tree of Life Seeds (treeoflifeseeds.com), said the benefits of CBD for people active in the outdoors is multifaceted. Tree of Life produces an array of products, including balms, lotions and other products containing highly-refined CBD oil.

“CBD oil works on a molecular level to reduce inflammation,” he said. “It is also effective in relieving pain without the addictive properties of opioids. Our products are used by professional athletes to help their bodies recover. CBD has also been shown to have a positive impact on quality of sleep which is, of course, vital to elite athletes.”

Martin said people engaged in outdoors activities realize the same benefits, provided they invest in a quality product.

“Our products have been independently tested for purity and have undergone a process called nano-emulsification, which speeds absorption,” he said. “There are cheaper products than ours on the market, but they don’t invest the money to perform these extra steps. We feel it’s worth it in order to bring the full benefits of CBD to the consumer.”
